Space Sharks - Dreads, Librarians, and Guts

Lucky me, I kitbashed a Librarian months ago to feel dead points in my Deathwing lists. I wanted him to have a Polynesian-style mace weapon and tattoos like Dhalsim from Street Fighter. I love doing glowey eyes for magic users.

Dreadnought Smashy is reporting for duty. I am proud of the freehand shark on the left leg guard. Dreads were the coolest unit to me before I started play 40k, so I am happy to finally own some painted ones.

Dreadnought Bitey is from the Ven Dread kit. I love heavy flamers for their cool factor. Same reason for the Assault Cannon. Plus, I am a proud member of the pop a Land Raider with an Assault Cannon Club. It helps that this set up elevates some of the pain facing horde lists with Deathwing.

Here is my Belial with TH/SS, but he is mostly ran as the sargent of the Command Squad because Tyberos is too cool of a model to deny. Plus, Belial's best stat is his initiative. It would be a shame to waste it. The guts are green stuff. The shoulder pads are from the Ven Dread kit. This figure was just me playing around with the old bitz box and my attempt to get more of a Shark vibe.

The victim was painted so fast that it makes me excited to paint orks. Washes help.

75 Points of Cygnar and eNemo's Baby Blues

Epic Nemo has been staring at me unpainted for 2 years from my paint desk, while mumbling things about orks needing to get off his lawn. Thus, it was time to tackle electrical robo-Mark Twain. Plus, there is a new Nemo coming out, so I needed to get moving!

I tried my hardest to get a "glowy" effect on his electrical parts and eyes. The best thing that I learned on eNemo was to use the side of my brush to pick out details as opposed to using the tip of the brush. This technique made it much easier to hit the small details, like his mustache.

It also helped that I had my buddy, Viking Librarian, to encourage me as I painted. eNemo is one of my favorite sculpts of all time, so I was intimidated by him. The whole model is blocked out with my colors of choice, and then washes. First, I washed with GW Gryphone Sepia, then Devlan Mud. The white cloth was far too bright and eye catching, so I tried watering down GW Devlan Mud for the first time. I like how the watered down brown wash gave it a subtle definition. Undiluted the wash just makes things messy looking.

Stormblades with UA. Rocking a freehanded swan! That was frustrating and required a hard cider to finish.

Now, I just need to actually play some games of Warmachine.....

Infinity Stat Cards:"Download these, now! Why are you still reading this?! Go!"

If you can't tell by now, I like making my gaming experiences as easy and smooth as possible. I'm talking smoother than a buttered baby baboon's butt here people (Alliteration FTW).

These cards were designed by the miraculous David Castro from this website. You can download the cards in an army-wide PDF, one batch folder of jpegs, or download a Creator to make your own! They are available in Spanish and English. Muy bien!

Cards just make things easier for me as a gamer since it saves space and time. Plus, I started gaming in Magic:the Gathering, so cards are natural to me.

I hope they enhance your gaming experience. I plan on printing these, so I can better demo the game around my FLGS.

Infinity: Rules Snafus for New Players

Infinity = Great Success. Our first game was quick, brutal, and entertaining. Some of the rules took some time to get the hang of, but I learn by doing, not reading. Here are some things that tripped us up to help you and other players out. Veterans, please, correct me if I have any of there wrong.

If you play with 40k terrain, I would encourage you to house rule that you cannot see through windows, otherwise there will not be enough cover.

2 Enemy Figures in CC with your 1 Figure
"...all figures engaged in CC with a right to ARO can make their roll to hit with a MOD of +3 for each friendly figure engaged in combat. A miniature in his active turn must achieve a higher roll than all of his enemies and then will be able to hit one of them: any enemy figure with a superior roll to his will succeed in hitting him instead. Similarly, to get out of Close Combat an active figure will have to overcome all his opponents’ CC Rolls with his PH Roll."

Burst value of Guns
BURST is the number of shots per order, so by spending 3 orders on a Combi-rifle (Burst = 3), you can let out 9 shots. I though BURST was the limit of shots per active turn ala Warmahordes' ROF.

 Coordinated Orders and Shooting
Coordinated orders allow a group of up to 4 models act as one, so that they only trigger one ARO per enemy model in LoF/ZoC. You can coordinate a combined order of up to 4 models. So, 4 of my guys (for an order each) can act at the same time to shoot ONE of the enemy models BUT, their Burst is cut in half, rounding up. Thus, 3 shots on a Combi-rifle (BURST =3) becomes 2 shots a piece.

Unconscious Models
Unconscious models do not give an order. If you aren't playing a special scenario or have a doctor, just pick them up off the board. They also complete their movement before falling down.

ARO
You can respond in an ARO as many times in a turn as your enemy spends orders on a model that is in your Line of Fire and or Zone of Control (8 inches). Also, you must declare your ARO after the first short/long action.

1) Active player declares First Short or Long Action.
2) Reactive player declares response.
3) Active player declares Second Short Action or completes Long Action.

Cautious Movement
Cautious movement doesn't trigger an ARO and it is a movement that starts out of LoF and ends out of LoF of enemy models.

Reserve in Deployment
During deployment, a player can hold a model in reserve (not like 40k), Player 1 would have deployed, then Player 2 deployed, then Player 1 places their reserve model, then Player 2 places their reserve model. This allows Player 1 to respond to Player 2's deployment with a reserved model.

Definition of Line of Fire
You can shoot at a model in partial cover, as long as you can see an amount of their body equal to their head. Pro-tip: Don't greenstuff afros onto your models.

Knight AVA in Vanilla PanOceania
The AVA of Order Knights (Teutonic, Santiago, Montessa, Sepulcher) is 1 and AVA of a Hospitaler is 1. Thus, I can run my Santiago and Hospitaler in the same army no problem. Yippe Skippe!

Finally, use the Devil Team's Infinity creator for looking up rules, which saves me from going to different pdfs. It is nice that you can click on the model's rules and they link you to the Infinity Wiki in a new tab.
Infinity Army Creator

I hope that any potential players can learn from my rules mistakes. We haven't even got into camo...We played 3 light infantry and 1 heavy infantry, which seemed to be a good demo level.

Infinity: ORC Trooper (Not that kind of Ork)

This model was a pleasure to paint. It helps that I went in with a game plan. Also, I used white primer with a black wash to pick out the details. This preparation went MUCH nicer than my prime black technique.

I am pleased with the results. This figure was my first attempt at line highlights. They are probably a tad bit extreme, but I really wanted this guy to pop. I also wanted to limit my use of metal paints.

Recipe
Orc Armor
+++ Base Coat - Reaper Master Paint "Cloudy Grey"
+++ 1st highlight - GW Fortress Grey
+++ Line highlight - Vallejo Ivory
+++ Final Touch - GW Badab Black Wash
