Tabletop Game & Hobby, my FLGS, held a 40k team tournament last weekend. Each player brought a 1000 pt list with no allies and 1 fortification between the team's players.
Big Mek KFF
1 Dakkajet with extra shoota
2*20 Boyz with BigChoppa/BP Nob
19 Boyz with PowerKlaw/BP Nob
3 Battlewagons with Big Shoota, Deffrolla, Red Paint
My battleplan was to drive the battlewagons up a flank as fast as possible Turn 1. Turn 2 would be tankshocking with deffrollas and throwing fistfuls of shoota boy dice. My Dark Eldar partner and I would deploy to appear as a battle line, but he would quickly zoom over to my side in order to run a refused flank. I brought the durable troops, while he brought the anti-tank and harassing units.
My Dakkajet "Da Shootiest" was my MVP as it put the hurt on 2 flying Daemon Princes and gave me some much needed quick dakka.
Deffrollas didn't accomplish much since I didn't roll to hot with them, but they provided a much needed threat. I want the wagons to keep being a threat even after the boys are out of them. Thus, the rollas keep the wagons scary. Red Paint is also worth it. It helps with assaults and gives extra range to shooting.
Game 1: Blood Angels/Orks
I deploy like a git, which allows a Dread with a melta to droppod down and melta one of my wagons. The updates to vehicle explosions is all vehicles explode at Str 4. This kills lots of boys...I run the other wagons forward to capture 2 objectives. We win this game.
Game 2: Necrons/Chaos Marines
I deploy right on the edge of the left flank. Two 10 man flanks deploy right across from me. I fear being glanced to death, but I move up 19" in order to get a Turn 2 assault. One Wagon gets wrecked, which is preferable to exploding. Wagons serve their job if I can get 20 boys into a scrum without losing any Turn 2. We draw this game because I cannot finish off a single Plague Marine, so I can't contribute to a fight with a Necron Overlord.
Game 3: Chaos Marines/Chaos Daemons
We face off against 4 flying monstrous creatures, and I cowardly place my wagons as far away as possible. I get a bunch of lucky shots off on the daemons and they fail Grounding tests. This misfortune opens up the door for shoota boys to lay down the hurt. This game becomes very one-sided as my partner and I have wiped all of the big daemons off the board after Turn 3. We win this game.
Final Record: 2-1-0
Our team (Krump & Hump) ends up being Best Overall, so we win a shiny gold medal. Our perfect sportsmanship score and very high painting score allows us to barely squeak out a victory over a very close running.
TL;DR: Orks are best.

Ravenwing, Scouts, and HQs: Space Shark Style
I am slowly adding my reinforcements from the new Dark Angels book to my Space Shark terminators. Here are 2 squads of Melta and Multimelta bikes with 5 Scouts with a Missile Launcher.
Here is a Sargent with a MicroArt Steam Knight head.
Here is my bike librarian and techmarine, with a gun ol' gun for funsies.
I messed up my Scout sarge's eyes, so he got professional wrestler style face paint.
After doing it about 80 times, I can freehand a pretty mean shark.....

Converted Sammael Jetbike and Black Knights - Space Sharks Style
Time to update my Space Sharks for the new codex! I already have the army painted once, so I am going back to make changes, weapon swaps, and new additions.
Sammael here is a Dark Vegeance biker with the wheels and bolters chopped off. Replaced the front with a Dark Eldar Raider prow. The back is a chaos vehicle thingy-ma-bob with a random Imperial Guard tank main weapon as the engine.
Deathwing Knights seem to be the go-to for close combat. It also helps that they are cheaper than regular TH/SS guys, with some added juicy rules. I rarely fired any weapons with my beatstick command squad in the old book anyway, so the no ranged on the knights doesn't phase me.
Scouts need missile launchers to hold my objectives as the big boys play in the enemy deployment.
Black Knight bikers do plasma better than Ravenwing ones. Gotta have some of those. These just have their bolters cut off and replaced with Plasma Pistols. A head swap from Maxmini Steam Knight heads.
Techmarines can provide cool wargear options. Plus, I love them. Here is my take a on a Conversion Beamer, which will be my Servo-Harness upgrade in Dark Angels.
Plasma Cutter, Flamer, and 2 servo-arms. I guess he just melees with the huge gun?
Scouts can't take shotguns, so time to make more snipers from Ork boss poles.
Autocannon Dreads are finally in the book. Sign me up. This is a missile launcher with a chopped up Imperial Guard autocannon turret chopped up (seeing a theme here?).

Krump Kroozer - Battlewagon Rolling Out!
I finally painted this battlewagon up. It was my first ork conversion, too!. Painting it was a blast and easy since I mainly just sprayed red and then went over all the edges with Boltgun paint.
While painting orks, I find that there is a zen between painting terribly and painting orky.
The tracks are from a Gundam Gun Tank toy that I sacrificed to Gork and Mork.
Git's eye view....

Wazdakka Gutsmek, a Trukk, and Boyz
Here is my take on Wazdakka. I love his fluff and wanted an excuse to make a bike similar to Kaneda's from the movie, Akira. It was based off a Deff Kopta, with random bits and two 2-liter soda bottles as the back wheel.
Part list
- deff kopta with the missiles and rotors chopped off
- Nob box power klaw
- Dakka Jet pilot head
- Deff Dread boss pole
- Guns from the Killa Kan and Deff Dread kits
- Killa Kan jaw plate, which is the top checkered piece
- Evil Sunz logo from the Nob box
- Exhausts from the Killa kan box
- Squashed goblin from the WHFB Giant box
- Back wheel is 2 2-liter drink caps
- Back wheel skirt is the top part of a land raider sponson and chopped up deff kopta rotors
Wazdakka may look weedy for a boss, but he is only strength 4, like a Nob, and I wanted the bike to be the focus of the model.
This trukk has been sitting around, so I decide to expeiment with it, as it is my first painted ork vehicle. I really enjoyed it! I decided to man-up and free hand some checkers around the vehicle and found that the more that I relaxed and had fun with painting, the more orky it got!
31 more boyz down. The speed painting tactic really makes painting these guys easier, but they still took me about 12 hours to complete, where as Wazdakka took me about 3 hours to paint. Thus, that is really fast at ~23 minutes a boy.
Here is the recipe.
1) Prime with Army Painter Demonic Yellow

2) Wash skin with green wash twice (Biel-Tan Green)
3) Wash skin with brown wash once (Arthnac Earthshade)
4) Bask in the glory of it all
I am very pleased with the results, especially since they will die in droves....

MegaArmor Warboss: Ton'ee Stork the Iron Git
Blame the Iron Man 3 trailer and Ozzy for making me paint up my converted Warboss in Iron Man colors. I have an idea of having Ton'ee Stork a.k.a. "Iron Git" leading a group of Avengers style ork Nobs. Maybe my Bad Moons raided a comic book shop planet? Worst planet ever....
Sorry for the drop in picture quality, but it is easier to snap a pic with my new phone while drinking the morning coffee.
Look at my assembly line of Ork boyz in the background...Round 2 of yellow spray, green wash shoota boyz.

Marbork: They Drew First WAAAAGH!
Being a fan of Reserves, Odd deplolyment, and Stallone made converting an orky Marbo irresistable. Here is my shot at the 'roided-out fungus.
He has unique wargear, so I tried to represent it in the mini to help me remember (Ripper pistol, poisoned blade, and demo charge).
I had fun with greenstuffing the hair and headband. I had to use all of my experience with Ninja Turtles for inspiration. I also used some greentuff to create a muzzle flair on the end of the pistol as an experiment.
Marbo Recipe
++ Fantasy Orc Warboss head
++ Loota/Burna Mek torso
++ Fantasy Orc Boy hand weapon arm
++ Ork Nob pistol arm
++ Demo charge is from a Killa Kan's skorcha
I am now working on my Team Fortress Ork kommando squad. Here is the spy with Breaking Bad in the background.

Master of the Forge on Bike: Converting Conversion Beamer
I have always dreamed off an army of Dreadnoughts. I chose to follow my dreams and kitbashed up a quick Master of the Forge on a bike. An important note is that the techmarine forfeits his servo-harness for the Conversion Beamer, thus the lack of tentacle goodness.
Here is the Bits Breakdown
++ Techmarine shoulder pads and heads from the Space Marine vehicle sprue.
++ An auspex from the Space Marine Tactical squad accessory sprue.
++ A Lascannon from the Imperial Guard heavy weapons box.
++ The front end of a random Necron gun from the Desolation Barge.
++ The back end of said Necron gun glued to the side of the Beamer.
++ The radar dish from the Space Marine vehicle spure glued to the butt of the Beamer.
I am going to paint his armor up red and let him stalk the edges of the game table since his gun is beefed up to S10 AP1 blast if the Master of the Forge is far enough away. The bike makes him relentless, so he can move and fire his heavy weapon. I have fears of him running by himself, but a bike squad would be wasted on him since the bikers will want to get within 24 inches. Decisions, decisions.

Scratch-built Mega Armor Warboss: Tony Danza Extravaganza
It was time to get a real Warboss to lead my ork mobs. 6th gives lots of reasons to go with Mega Armor and it isn't much more expensive than just giving the boss a power klaw. The only official Mega Armor model is Ghazkull and I didn't want him, so it was time to convert up my own. I was inspired first by his sneaker-looking Killa Kan legs.
He isn't much bigger than the Black Reach warboss, either. I've been saving that head to make a boss for months now. I fully admit to humming "Iron Man" while making the boss.
Boss Recipe
++ Killa Kan legs and feet w/ Killa Kan knee pads
++ Torso base - Trukk Engine w/ a boy shoulder pad on the lower torso and Kan pad on upper
++ Arm is the grabbing klaw from the battlewagon kit
++ Shooty arm is a Killa Kan arm with a biker gun and Kan big shoota
++ Head is from the Black Ork standard and 2 armor plates from Killa kan skorchas
++ The exhausts come from Killa Kans and a trukk
Here is my new Boom Wagon, which a friend dubbed the "Cookie Monsta."
Also, I am punishing myself with another 30 mob of boyz. Second verse, same as first.
